Hot News: Brains As Well As Feet

HOT NEWS

Our long-awaited biography
of legendary entertainer Leonard Reed
is available now.

Legendary man-of-many-faces Leonard Reed and historic Black show business come alive through the eyes of someone who saw it all. From beginnings in medicine shows, Al  Capone, speakeasies, Vaudeville, on up through The  Cotton Club, The Apollo Theater, TV, and his  professional partnership with boxing great  Joe Louis, Reed was—in his own words—“too Black to be White, and too White to be Black.” His behind-the-scenes struggles through theatre’s most celebrated haunts are told through no-holds-barred interviews, rich research, and more than fifty rare illustrations that capture the glamour and excitement of the Golden Age of show biz and African-American golf.

SERIAL FANS, HOLD ONTO YOUR SEATS!

We're always thrilled when a "lost" film is rediscovered . . . especially an iconic serial.

Pearl White, the star of some of the first and most thrilling movie serials, is back in a rediscovered edition of The House of Hate, co-starring Antonio Moreno.
New York’s Museum of the Moving Image recently staged the first public exhibition in America of The House of Hate since its theatrical release in the spring of 1918.
A feature version running approximately three hours at sound speed has been rediscovered, and the good news is that this version retains practically all the action highlights, including fifteen of the nineteen nail-biting “cliffhanger” endings. It was transferred from material cobbled together from multiple prints of the serial, none of them complete and all of them of varying print quality.

JUDY CANOVA
everyone's favorite rube, at last takes center stage in a biography that's teeming with family interviews and rare unpublished photos. This is the only book that'll ever need to be "writ" on music/stage/film/radio star, Judy Canova!

As you can see by the photo on the right, she's still looking good today.

After a battle with cancer in the 1980s, she starred in several movies. A few seasons back, she began writing her memoirs an writing her memoirs, but the book has been delayed yet again to 2020.
