George Raft on radio

On the next Dave White Presents, Dawn meets The Supremes---along with George Raft and comedy music!

In 1970, a group called Dawn had two Top Ten hits—“Candida” and “Knock Three Times.” But this group only existed in the studio featuring singer Tony Orlando with session musicians. In short order, Orlando needed a real group to go on the road, and singers Telma Hopkins and Joyce Vincent became Dawn.

On the next DWP, Joyce Vincent tells Wes Britton stories about Dawn’s pop success in the 1970s, goes behind the scenes of their hit CBS variety show, and talks about her current group—FLOS—Former Ladies of The Supremes. Yep, Dawn really does meet two of the Supremes and we’ll play Joyce doing lead on the classic “Baby Love” as performed by FLOS.

Then, Dave White talks with author Stone Wallace about his book, George Raft: The Man Who Would Be Bogart. Raft, of course, was a Hollywood legend whose story might have been different—if he hadn’t turned down important roles that Bogart took instead! Finally, parody song artist Jeff Reuben stops by to share some funny music taking Billy Joel to the boardwalk.

All this and the “predictably unpredictable” humor of DWP debuts next Tuesday, June 7 at 7:30 p.m. Eastern, then 7:30 Pacific over—

On Wednesday June 8, the 90 minutes will be available for download anytime you like at—

It’s Variety with a capital V—the place to be when the stars come out to play!
